Accessible Seating (Dining)

The Accessible Seating (Dining) course will discuss various types of seating while dining or consuming a beverage. We will cover knee and toe clearances required at counters and tables. The presentation will also discuss maneuvering clearances required for seating. Open discussion will conclude our presentation.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Discuss ADA Standards 226 and 902 Dining Surfaces and Work Surfaces
  2. Identify various types of Accessible Seating and where to properly place them in your building projec
  3. Examine compliant designs related to Counters, Bars & the TDLR Technical Memorandum TM 2013-14
  4. Analyze ADA Standards 306 Knee & Toe Clearance and 305.7 Maneuvering Clearance and Alcoves to gain a better understanding of a successfully compliant design
  5. Recognize the importance of Communal Tables as well as Specialty Tables to be in compliance with Accessibility standards
