This course is designed to provide architects and design professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the various aspects involved in selecting and specifying sectional overhead doors for commercial and industrial applications.

Learning Objectives: 
  1. Thermal Performance: Participants will learn about the impact of thermal air infiltration and insulation on energy efficiency. The course will explain the differences between R-value and U-factor, and how these metrics affect the overall thermal performance of sectional doors
  2. Types of Commercial Overhead Doors: The course will provide an overview of different types of commercial overhead doors, including steel pan doors, insulated doors, aluminum full-view doors, and flexible doors. Each type will be discussed in terms of aesthetic options, size, thermal performance, durability, and cost
  3. Opening Requirements and Clearances: Participants will gain an understanding of the critical dimensions and requirements for door openings, including headroom, sideroom, and backroom. The course will also cover the importance of proper track and spring mounting to ensure smooth operation
  4. Operation and Safety: Participants will learn how to select the appropriate door operator and entrapment protection to ensure safe and efficient operation of sectional doors. The course will also cover the importance of high-cycle springs and their impact on the lifespan of the door system
